Spent a magical weekend at the border of Utah and Arizona and here’s what we did -

DAY 1:

Start the day (we arrived 30 minutes prior to sunrise) at Horseshoe Bend: 1.5 miles roundtrip ($10 parking fee) lil hike to see a magical piece of the Grand Canyon! Although not part of the National Park, Horseshoe Bend is part of the same natural canyon system that the Colorado River created.

On your way home, grab some coffee, breakfast burritos, and pastries at LP Espresso.

Hopefully you’ve booked a tour well in advance, because Antelope Canyon is not to be missed! A tour is required and you have the option of Upper or Lower Canyon tours. I did both and felt the cheaper (Lower - went through Ken's Tours) was actually better. This could be a result of the epic winds that day and sand pouring down on us..but for the price I do think they’re too similar to really need to do both. Prime time is usually late morning/early afternoon for best light.

Dinner options:

- Grand Canyon Brewing: holy calzone (its massive)

- State 48 Tavern: I had a salad and it was legit

- The Point Restaurant: great breakfast burrito on the water!

DAY 2:

Pack up lunch and a cooler full of your favorite beverages and hit the water to soak up the magic that is Lake Powell. You have many options here - stay on a houseboat, check out some lookout spots, go swimming at the waters edge, rent a boat or pontoon, take a boat tour, or rent a kayak or stand up paddle board (for antelope canyon, specifically). We rented a pontoon for the day and coasted up toward Padre Bay where we anchored and hung out for lunch before returning the boat. IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

If you have energy, check out Wahweap Viewpoint, Wahweap Overlook or Navajo Mountain Viewpoint on your way back to town - stopping at RD’s Drive in for a burger and some dreamy soft serve to complete the perfect day.

DAY 3:

Before you head out, check out The Chains for a quick hike (and maybe a swim) or stop by the Wahweap Swimming Spot by the Marina for a last minute swim.
